There are organization composed of members who are committed to ending violence and abuse and enhancing the status of South Asian women. Volunteers do not give professional advice but offer sympathetic, nonjudgmental support and provide information and resources to enable women to make their own decisions. Women can talk about their situations and discuss their options without fear of criticism or shame.
Embracing the notion of women's empowerment, organisation such as Narika and many more set out to address the unmet needs of abused South Asian women by providing advocacy, support, information, and referrals within a culturally sensitive model. They serve women who trace their origins to Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and diasporic communities such as Fiji and the Caribbean.
